Self-motivation and little outside support can help us in achieving goals. Girijamma Ramachandrappa, a native of Gajamaranahalli village of Pattanayakanahalli region of Shira taluk is an example for this.
The financial condition of the family of Girijamma was quite bad before she came to know about Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project. What SKDRDP did was little financial support, training and motivation to move on. After getting the membership of Varalaxmi self-help group, she got Rs 20,000 as Pragatinidhi and invested in farming. For borewell, purchase of cattle and other purpose needed for her 1.5 acres of land, she got loans like Rs 50,000, Rs 78,000 and Rs 1, 00, 000 respectively.
She has 4 cows, snake gourd and brinjal in 1.5 acres of land, Kakada jasmine, chilly, 60 papaya trees, tomato, lemon and other crops. Earlier she is depended on daily labour. But as Jnanavikasa Centre member, now she has irrigation facility to her land. Dairy farming and vegetable farming also proved profitable.
Moreover, they are not dependent on outside labourers. So the family gets an annual income of around Rs 2.5 lakh. They got a financial aid of Rs 5000 from SKDRDP.
Girijamma wants to be a model farmer woman. SKDRDP was really God gift for us, she thanked the project.
