Mrs. Asha resident of  Sonnamaranahalli, Doddaballapura zone lives with her husband and 2 children. Husband works as a daily wager. She got to know about Self-Help Groups through Jnanavikasa Center and got motivated to be self-employed. She joined Sneha Self-Help Group, started saving money and bought millet flour mill machine.

From the group she periodically took Rs. 10,000, Rs. 50,000, Rs. 1,00,000 and Rs. 2,00,000 Pragathinidhi. From these Pragathinidhi, she made her land suitable for agriculture and started growing grapes and guava. Later she made agriculture pit, started a nursery in which she grows and sells papaya and lemon and also has given employment to 5 women.

When asked about her success, she says people used to humiliate her due to their family problems that is when she joined the Self-Help Group. She says she has got all the support from the group and also actively participates in Self-Help Group management.
