A foundation stone laying ceremony was organized for the rejuvenation of Bandipura and Tavarekatte lakes at Bandipur Tiger Reserve, Gundlupete Taluk. Sri. S. Prabhakaran, Director of Bandipur Tiger Reserve, inaugurated the programme and said that the water level in the Bandipur forest area is decreased due to the hot weather.  But as per the wish of Poojya Heggadeji to revive the two lakes of Bandipura is becoming possible. It will help to increase the ground water level, provides water to the animals and birds and even it will be possible to store water till the April or May month.

The Regional Director of Mysore Sri. Jayaram Nellithaya gave brief information about the Nammuru Nama Kere programme and Social Afforestation programmes and said Poojya Heggadeji has specially sanctioned Rs. 18 lakhs for the rejuvenation works of selected two lakes.

The Forest Officers, Director of CR Nagar Smt. Latha Bangera, President of Janajagruthi Sri. Ravishankar, Lake Engineers, Project Officers, Gram Panchayat members, Press Reporters, Supervisors and Sevaprathinidhis were present in the programme.
