SKDRDP’s Support to Self-employment

Smt. Sudha is a resident of Tyajavalli village, Shimoga Taluk. She is a member of Mallige self-help group. At first, she borrowed loan of Rs. 10,000/- and used it for children’s education. After that she borrowed Rs. 50,000/- loan repayment and Rs 3 lakh for the house reconstruction work. She was willing to start self-employment to make the weekly repayment of loans. Then she applied for SIDBI loan and bought a roti making machine. She makes 1000 roti per day with the help of the machine. She sells the roti to the market for Rs. 6 per roti. She prepares 1000 rotis per day and earns Rs. 6000/-. After deducting expenses, she gets profit of Rs. 2000/- per day. The business helps her to manage weekly loan repayments and children’s education. She says all her achievements were only possible because of joining SKDRDP’s self-help group, making savings in group and from the information she got form the Jnanavikasa programme.
