SKDRDP Conducts Volunteer Training for Disaster Management in Brahmavara

The Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) BC Trust (R), Brahmavara, and the Akhila Karnataka Janajagruthi Vedike Trust (R), Brahmavara Taluk, organized a training and committee meeting for volunteers of the Shourya Disaster Management Program. The event was held at the Kachchuru Nageswara Hall in Barkur.

The program was inaugurated by Shri Ashok, the Sub-Inspector of the Brahmavara Police Station, by lighting a lamp. Shri Shantharam Shetty, the President of Barkur Gram Panchayat, presided over the function.

Speaking at the event, Shri Vivek V Pais, the Regional Director of the Akhila Karnataka Janajagruthi Vedike, said that the “Apattubandhavaru” Shourya members are selfless volunteers who help rescue people during disasters in their villages. Today, the Shourya team has made a significant mark on people’s minds. It is a strong team made by bringing together local youth who are interested in serving and contributing to society. The Shourya members, as a part of the SKDRDP, possess a humane quality of providing a shoulder to lean on for those in need and giving them moral support. He mentioned that the team has been serving people across the state on the basis of its service dharma and has successfully provided various disaster relief services to Karnataka for the past five years.

Shri Ashok, the Sub-Inspector of Brahmavara Police Station, extended his best wishes to the Brahmavara Shourya team. During the event, a consolation amount of Rs. 25,000, sanctioned by Revered through the SKDRDP, was given to the parents of Ganesh Miyaru, a resident of Kokkarne Nalkuru village and an active member of the Kokkarne Shaurya team, who had died after falling into a river.

The program was attended by Shri Srinivasa Udupa, the Administrative Trustee of Koodli Shri Janardhana Temple; Shri Nagaraj Shetty, Udupi District Director of SKDRDP; Project Officer Ganesh Acharya; Shri Jaivanta Patagara; Taluk Supervisors; office staff; and all the members of the Brahmavara Taluk Shourya unit. Project Officer Ramesh PK welcomed everyone, and local supervisor Ravindra was also present.
