 BIDAR DAIRY  DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

The statistics themselves reveal that Bidar district, despite having all types of favourable geographical conditions for dairy farming, is significantly lagging behind in this sector. Among the 15 milk unions in Karnataka, the Kalaburagi-Bidar-Yadagiri union has the lowest milk collection. Out of the total 461 milk producers' associations in Bidar district, more than 60% are inactive. To improve the condition of the dairy producers, Revered Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade initiated a dairy development program in the district by providing a grant of Rs.2.50 crore under his Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme for the year 2022-23.Through this, 7 new buildings, 42 automatic milk collection units, steel cans and other necessary equipment for 29 milk associations, 20 phantasmatic machines and weighing scales, furniture for 38 milk associations were provided. This was helped to come out from the barrier and creates milk revolution in BIDAR. In first phase it would create 73 milk cooperative society, 11000 farmers started dairy farming and it increasing the milk production from 18000 lt. to 52000lt.

In the second phase of The allocation of  Rs 2.50 crore from the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Fund for the year 2023-24 to provide basic infrastructure to 291 milk producers' cooperative societies and10 new buildings . Dr. Veerendra Heggade's timely intervention has acted as a crucial catalyst, igniting a much-needed resurgence in Bidar's dairy farming and setting the stage for sustained progress.
