Shri Omkarmurthy, a resident of Channarayapattana Taluk in the Hassan district, followed his passion for farming after graduating, rather than seeking a traditional job. He lives with his three brothers, who also provide valuable support for his agricultural ventures on their 25-acre land. Together, they cultivate a diverse range of crops, including various vegetables, paddy, and coffee.
His wife is a member of self-help group of SKDRDP . Through the Pragathinidhi program, Omkarmurthy was able to secure a loan to significantly expand their operations. The family also benefited from other SKDRDP initiatives like Sujnananidhi and Yanthrasri, which provided them with additional resources and assistance.
Omkarmurthy’s dedication and hard work, along with his family’s support, have been recognized with numerous accolades, including a prestigious environmental award, celebrating their contributions to farming and sustainability.
