Hemalatha Karibassapapa and her sister from Amrut Nagar in Davanagere Taluk, are inspiring examples of determination, self-employment, and women’s empowerment. Despite facing physical challenges, She maintained a strong and positive mindset, and together the sisters were determined to build a meaningful and independent livelihood. To transform their skills into a profession, the sisters started a home-based roti-making enterprise. Using a solar-powered roti-making machine, they prepare around 60 fresh rotis every day.
Their professional journey gained momentum through specialized skill-development training provided by the Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP).
Both sisters are active members of the Jnanavikasa program, and their achievement is a powerful example of how institutional support, skill development, and personal determination can help individuals overcome challenges—especially for those with physical disabilities like Hemalatha.
Today, they turned a simple household skill into a reliable and rewarding business, inspiring many others in their community to pursue self-reliance and growth.
