Social Forestry Programme was organised at Siddar under the Shirwad of the Karwar Project Office with the objective of promoting environmental conservation and encouraging the protection and nurturing of trees.
The programme was presided over by Smt. Vanita P. Rani, President of Mallikarjun Educational Institution. Sri Kiran, Range Forest Officer, Karwar, was the chief guest. Smt. Nagarathna Hegde, District Director, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, Sri Shivaraj Acharya, Project Officer, Karwar, Sri Krishna Kamath, Member, District Janajagruthi Vedike, Sri S. B. Sawant, Principal, ITI College, Sri Prashant Rane, Principal, PU College, and members of the Mallikarjun Educational Institution, including Sri Pundalik Gavkar and Sri Purshu K. Rani, participated in the programme. Sri Sanakoos Gowda, Agriculture Officer, Karwar, Sri Ramesh, Supervisor, Mallapur Zone, along with Sevapratinidhis and members of the Shaurya team, were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Vanita P. Rani urged everyone to nurture and protect the saplings with the same care and affection given to children. Sri Kiran, Range Forest Officer, Karwar, highlighted the importance of protecting forests, wildlife and trees and creating greater awareness about environmental conservation.
Smt. Nagarathna Hegde, District Director, provided information on different varieties of saplings and explained the methods of their proper care and protection. Sri Shivaraj Acharya, Project Officer, Karwar, delivered the introductory remarks. Sri Sanakoos Gowda, Agriculture Officer, and Sri Ramesh, Supervisor, Mallapur Zone, also participated in the programme.
