Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, Tiptur Taluk, organized a training program on “Crafting Household and Decorative Items from Coconut Chips” through a creative initiative under the Women’s Knowledge Development Program at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bidaregudi Kaval,
The program was inaugurated by Shri Satish Suvarna, Director of Tumkur District 1, by lighting the lamp. He informed that the Rural Development Project started in 1982 and is functioning as a BC Trust. He highlighted various programs run by the project, including the Women’s Knowledge Development Program, Vatsalya Program, Janamangala, Lake Works, Sujnana Nidhi Scholarship and Agricultural Programs.. He announced the commencement of the creative program for making decorative items from coconut chips and urged everyone to compulsorily attend and participate enthusiastically in the training. On this occasion, Shri Dr. Govind Gowda, Senior Scientist and Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tiptur, spoke about how to start self-employment through group activities and individually, how to market the products made, and how self-help progress groups were run in the past. He also praised the numerous awareness programs and activities conducted through the SKDRDP. Kumari Jayalakshmi, a Fashion Designer and resource person, informed about the materials required for the coconut chip training and encouraged all members to attend and learn with enthusiasm.
Additionally, on this day, Shri Naveena Smt. Bharathi Yogananda, a woman entrepreneur, demonstrated making Ganesha idols and lamps from native cow dung and provided information about self-employment.
The program was attended by Taluk Project Officer Shri Uday K., Financial Literacy Center Counselor Smt. Rekha Madam Chitij Kusuma, District Janajagruthi Vedike member Mahadevamma, Sevaprathinidhi Pramila and Renuka, and all the members of the Jnana Vikasa Kendra undergoing training.
