Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project(SKDRDP) Virajapete Taluk, under its agricultural program, organized an environmental awareness information program at the Government Primary School, Murnad, in the Murnad sector.
The program was inaugurated by the lighting of the lamp by the school’s Headmistress, Smt. Pushpalatha. Shri Kushan Rai, President of Murnad Gram Panchayat, presided over the program and delivered the introductory speech.
Subsequently, Smt.Bhavya, the Sector Deputy Forest Officer, who attended as a resource person, spoke about environmental protection being everyone’s primary duty. She stated that planting a sapling is like giving a gift to our future generation and emphasized the importance of environmental protection, especially in recent times, to prevent damages like landslides. She further informed that environmental protection is the duty of every citizen.

As part of the environmental awareness program, essay competitions, drawing competitions, and leaf identification competitions were organized for students, and prizes were awarded. During this program, various types of fruit saplings were planted in the school premises by the association members and students.
