Today, an environmental awareness program was jointly organized by Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, B.C. Trust (R.) Kundapura-2, and Government Primary School, Jananadi. The program was inaugurated with a prayer and the lighting of a lamp by dignitaries.
Shri Suryaprakash Damle, a member of Janajagruthi, spoke at the event, stating that a good environment can only be recognized when seasons like summer, rain, and winter occur appropriately and on time. He emphasized that the current climate change is causing irregular rainfall, and the main reason for this environmental degradation is humanity’s failure to properly manage the environment. He urged everyone to plant more trees to protect a clean environment, air, water, and overall purity.
Shri Prakash Govind, a progressive farmer and resource person, provided information to the children on environmental conservation. He stressed the importance of fostering environmental awareness in children. He also mentioned that the government and various organizations conduct different programs to maintain the environment systematically. He highlighted the need to understand the value of water, keep water sources clean, and prevent pollution. He also emphasized the importance of protecting soil health and the necessity of clean oxygen for breathing. To ensure clean air, he urged planting and preserving trees. He encouraged children to be vigilant in this regard and become good citizens, stating that the responsibility of protecting nature in the coming days lies with all of us.
As part of the program, essay competitions, drawing competitions, and leaf identification competitions were organized for the school children, and prizes were distributed.
The program was presided over by Smt. Jayalakshmi, President of SDMC. School teacher Girish Sir welcomed everyone, and Agriculture Supervisor Pradeep Kumar delivered the vote of thanks and compered the program.
The teaching staff, association members Suresh Shetty, Bharati, Deepa, Muthu, Radha, Anita, and the school students participated in the program. Fruit saplings were also planted in the school premises.
