A ceremony was conducted at the Huilagola Gram Panchayat to unveil the nameplate of the Lake Project.The event was headed by Shri Keshava Devanga, the District Director of SKDRDP, Gadag district. He highlighted the extensive social benefits of the project, noting that five lakes had already been desilted in Gadag taluk. He also mentioned that under the guidance of Dr. Veerendra Heggade ji, over 1,000 lakes have been desilted across the state through the “Nammuru Namma Kere” program, creating a “water revolution.” He provided a detailed explanation of the program’s origins and future conservation plans.
Village member Ramesh Bellagatti expressed his joy and gratitude that this project had come to their community. He praised Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade ji for the many successful initiatives guided by the project, including alcohol de-addiction camps, providing pensions for the destitute, and supplying desks to schools. The president of the lake committee, Thippanna Gangappanavar, spoke about how his own life was transformed after attending a camp and how the Godappana Kere project would greatly benefit the village’s agricultural land.
