Smt, Savita, a resident of Ramanagara, has been an member of the Self-Help Group for the past 12 years. She has built her livelihood through agriculture and is engaged in arecanut cultivation, cardamom farming, flower cultivation, arecanut leaf plate manufacturing, and mixed farming. She is supported in her agricultural and business activities by her husband and son.
With financial assistance obtained through the Self-Help Group, she initially availed a loan of Rs.50,000 and later Rs.2 lakh to establish her arecanut leaf plate business. Through her hard work and the support of the project, she has successfully expanded her enterprise.
Today, by marketing her products directly without relying on intermediaries, she earns a better income and has built a stable and self-reliant livelihood. Her journey reflects how timely financial support, coupled with determination and family support, can empower rural women and inspire others to achieve economic independence.
