The 981st Nammuru Namma Kere Lake Handover and Naming Ceremony was organized at Chavatagere Lake in Alnavar Taluk. The Nammuru Namma Kere initiative aims to strengthen community participation in the restoration and development of water resources, thereby supporting sustainable water management and the overall well-being of rural communities.
The program was graced by the presence of Regional Director Smt. Dayashila, Shri Shrikant Gaikwad, Personal Assistant to the Labour Minister Shri Santosh Lad, and Alnavar Taluk Tahsildar Dr. D. H. Hoogar, along with other officials, community representatives and beneficiaries.
The lake, spread across approximately 200 acres, was formally handed over to the local community, and the lake’s name was unveiled as part of the ceremony. The initiative is expected to benefit around 150 families by enhancing water availability and supporting agricultural activities and local livelihoods. The restoration and development of the lake stand as a significant step towards strengthening community-led water conservation and promoting sustainable rural development.
