The state-level “Laksha Vruksha” (One Lakh Trees) sapling plantation drive was officially launched at Saalumarada Thimmakka Vrukshodyanavana in Hebri village. The program was inaugurated by the honorable MLA Shri V. Sunil Kumar and other dignitaries, who symbolically planted fruit-bearing saplings.
Karkala MLA, Shri V. Sunil Kumar inaugurated the program and said, stressed the collective responsibility of protecting water and the environment and also said “we have forgotten both in the name of development, but human life is impossible without nature”. He also highlighted the significant positive change brought about in society by planting 7.20 crore saplings under the project.
During the event, Shri Sachin Bide of Mundaje village, Belthangady was felicitated with the “Aranya Mitra” award.
The Taluk Project Officer concluded the event by extending a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries.
