Inauguration of Basidoni Lake Desilting Work under “Nammuru Namma Kere” Program

The Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project BC Trust (R), Savadatti Taluk, organized the Bhoomi Pooja and inauguration ceremony for the desilting work of the Basidoni Lake, which was selected under the Nammuru Namma Kere program, at Basidoni village of Hulakatti sector.

Inaugurating the program, District Director Shri H. R. Lavakumar spoke about the vital role of water in environmental conservation and emphasized that the development of lakes is essential to address future water scarcity, conserve wildlife, and increase groundwater levels. He informed that the Dharmasthala Rural Development Project has rejuvenated about 956 lakes across the state and has set a target of developing 1,000 lakes by the end of this year.

Regional Engineer Shri Ningaraj Malawad explained the outline of the lake development work and highlighted the importance of cooperation from villagers.

The program was attended by Gorabala Gram Panchayat President Smt. Manigeravva Pundalik, Gram Panchayat Development Officer Smt. Vanita Kanyal, Lake Development Committee President Shri Muttappa Bharigid, Vice President Patreppa Chikkumbi, Taluk Project Officer Subraya Naik, retired teacher M. S. Javur, Sector Supervisor Smt. Suneeta Hiremath, Agriculture Supervisor Annappa S, Seva Pratinidhi Smt. Suvarna, along with around 80 farmers and local leaders from the village.
