A Taluk-Level Women’s Convention was organised under the Mahila Jnanavikasa Programme at B.G.S. Community Hall, Turuvekere, with the participation of Jnanavikasa coordinators, supervisory staff, Seva Pratinidhis/VLEs, members of Jnanavikasa Centres and Self-Help Groups from Turuvekere and Turuvekere Rural areas. The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Shraddha Amit, Chief Executive Officer, Kshemavana and Founder, Jnanavikasa YouTube Channel, who highlighted the importance of empowering women through awareness, knowledge and community participation.

The programme was presided over by Smt. Swapna Natesh, former President, Turuvekere Town Panchayat. Sri Sheenappa M., Regional Director, SKDRDP BC Trust, Bengaluru, and Sri Satish Suvarna, Director, SKDRDP BC Trust, Tumakuru-1 District, were the chief guests.

As part of the convention, expert sessions were conducted on cancer awareness and preventive measures by Smt, Yamuna B.N., Community Medicine Specialist, Aniketana Trust, Tumakuru, and on changing lifestyles, healthy dietary practices and women’s health by Dr. Sindhu P. Basavegowda, Nutrition Education Specialist and Founder of an online nutrition education and health platform.

The convention also featured decorative plate displays, self-employment stalls, cultural programmes, rangoli competitions and flower bouquet competitions, providing women with opportunities to showcase their creativity, skills and entrepreneurial activities. The programme was coordinated by the Jnanavikasa Coordinators, supervisory staff, Seva Pratinidhis/VLEs and members of Jnanavikasa Centres and Self-Help Groups, under the guidance of Project Officers Sri Kusumadhar and Sri Shekhar Shetty of Turuvekere and Turuvekere Rural.
