SKDRDP Boosts Crop Insurance Enrollment in Tiptur

The Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) in Tiptur recently started a major registration drive for the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), the government’s crop insurance scheme. Taluk Project Officer Uday K. highlighted the program’s importance in protecting farmers from natural calamities, emphasizing that it’s a vital safety net from sowing to harvest. This initiative reflects Honorable Dr. Veerendra Heggadeji’s’ vision for widespread farmer benefit, urging SKDRDP’s network of service providers and supervisors to actively promote and enroll farmers.
Last year, SKDRDP successfully registered 4,679 farmers in Tiptur for crop insurance. This proved crucial for 14 families who suffered crop losses due to natural disasters, receiving Rs 46,000 in insurance claims. Uday K. underscored that their guidance is essential in ensuring farmers receive their rightful claims when disaster strikes, reinforcing the tangible benefits of the program.
