847th Nammuru Namma Kere Lake Handover Program Held at belle of Kapu

The 847th “Nammuru Namma Kere” Lake Handover Program was held at Kurudayi Lake, under Belle Gram Panchayat in Kapu Taluk. The program was jointly organized by the Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), Kapu Taluk, the Lake Development Committee, Kurudayi, and Belle Gram Panchayat.

The program marked the handover of the rejuvenated lake under the Nammuru Namma Kere initiative. As part of the event, the lake name board was unveiled by Mr. Anand Suvarna, Coastal Regional Director, and the traditional Bagina offering was performed by Tahsildar Mr. Ananth Shankar, along with village elders. This event was significant as it formed part of the initiative under which 847 lakes have been covered, while around 1000 lakes across Karnataka have already been rejuvenated through SKDRDP.

The program was inaugurated by Mr. Anand Suvarna, who addressed the gathering and emphasized that every village should have a developed and well-maintained lake. He stated that lake conservation is a shared responsibility of the community, as it supports humans, animals, birds, agriculture, and ecological balance. He further highlighted that under the guidance of Poojya Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade and Mathrushree Hemavathi Amma, lake conservation has been given top priority across the state, contributing significantly to rural and agricultural development.

The event witnessed the participation of Tahsildar Mr. Ananth Shankar, SKDRDP Project Officer Ms. Mamatha Shetty, Lake Development Committee President Mr. Harish Shetty, Gram Panchayat President Ms. Divya Acharya, Vice President Mr. Shashidhara Wagle, members of the Janajagruti Vedike, central federation representatives, Shaurya Disaster Management members, village elders, association members, and media representatives.

Concluding the program, Mr. Harish Shetty, President of the Lake Development Committee, assured full cooperation from the committee and villagers from the commencement of the lake work until its completion, reaffirming the community’s commitment to the success of the project.
